If you want to find routes serving particular places, try using your browser's search webpage facility (ctrl+F typically), e.g. for 'Barkingside' (don't be too specific). Alternatively, visit London's Busroutes Homepage where you can find a proper index.

Route numbers written on a yellow background are normally operated using wheelchair-accessible buses (routes 9 and 15 have a supplementary operation of Heritage Routemasters over part of their routes at certain times).

Those on green are operated by articulated, wheelchair accessible, single deckers. Open boarding applies on these vehicles: tickets must be purchased before travel from machines located at stops and other outlets, and all doors may be used for both boarding and alighting.

Notes written in green refer to deviations and diversions that, while long-term, are not intended to be permanent.

There are now online timetables for the vast majority of routes, available either on this site or on other sites (see below). Thanks are due to those who have helped me directly with the supply and publication of timetable information. Really, TfL should be doing this, but does not appear to have any such plans at present!

Where timetables are available you can click on the route number in this list. In some cases you will need to visit other websites to get full information. Please note that no responsibility can be accepted for accuracy or currency of pages on other sites. Due to the continually changing nature of the web, it is possible that some pages might have moved or been removed. Unless stated otherwise, bus passes are valid in the appropriate zones, and Travelcards and LT passes are valid throughout Greater London. In some cases passes may also be valid on sections of route outside greater London – please check first. Free travel is available in the immediate vicinity of Heathrow Airport.

Long distance/limited-stop services which do not carry local traffic within London have been omitted. Some other peripheral, non-LBSL, services (e.g. 75/76, 409), are listed separately under Non-TfL services. Minor route variations outwith Greater London are not generally shown.

For reasons of practicality, updates to this list may be carried out a few days before or after the actual date of service changes. Please check the changes page for the latest information on service changes.

Night buses

Sections of route that do not operate at least hourly from 0100-0500 7 nights a week are highlighted in red.

Mobility buses

A number of “Mobility Bus” routes operate around London to plug gaps in the main service network, usually providing a once-a-week return service to local shopping centres.

School buses

These normally provide morning journeys in the direction shown, with return journeys in the afternoon, during school term only. Although available to all passengers, timetables are designed in accordance with school requirements and services are liable to alteration or cancellation on an ad hoc basis.

A number of other routes have additional journeys at school times over the normal route; these are not included below.

Non-TfL services

There are a variety of other local bus services in London that are available to the general public but not regarded as part of the Transport for London bus network. In general TfL tickets are not accepted and fares may differ from those on other local bus services. Details of a selection are given below.
